Birmingham City scored more goals in their 7-1 Continental Cup win over Aston Villa than they have in all their league and FA Cup games combined this season

Relegation-threatened Birmingham City Ladies can salvage their season by winning the Continental Cup, says manager David Parker.

Blues sit second in Group Three ahead of Wednesday's home match against Women's Super League Two side Yeovil.

Parker, who described the drop as a "doomsday scenario", said silverware remains a a focus for the club.

"Forget the relegation battle, you go and win a trophy and that is a good year," he told BBC Sport.

"That could turn our season around. If we get to the final and win that tournament and stay up, what a great year that is.

"That is what we want to achieve."

The Continental Cup final in November is the last domestic women's football fixture of the season, coming a month after the WSL title and relegation battle will have been decided.

Cup and league fixtures will see Birmingham travel to face their closest rivals for survival, Bristol Academy, twice in seven days, starting with Saturday's final group game.

The tie against the third-placed Vixens could decide which side progresses to the quarter-finals of the competition, with only the two best third-placed teams going through from each pool.
