Adrian Pennock: Forest Green Rovers boss joy at start
Forest Green Rovers boss Adrian Pennock says he is delighted with their winning start and wants to gain promotion after missing out last campaign.
Forest Green have won their first five National League games, and having lost in the play-off semi-finals last season have set their sights on going up.
"I'm more than happy with the start," Pennock told BBC Points West.
"We want to get promoted. It's a great start but it'll only be good if we do something at the end of the season."
Pennock's side travel to Kidderminster on Saturday and he has urged his side to build on the momentum they have built.
"We just need to keep on pushing and driving and look forward to the next game," he said. "We are under no illusions, I'm happy with the five wins but there is a long way to go.
"It is a very tough league with some big clubs, but if someone said at the start of the season we'll win our first five games I would have taken that."
New signing Aaron O'Connor arrived from Newport County in the summer and feels the club will again be in the mix for promotion at the end of the season.
"First of all the fact that they made the play-offs last year so I knew they were going to be there or thereabouts," he said.
"I wanted to be a part of a team that's challenging and winning things, and when the manager told me he'd kept pretty much the same squad bar one or two then realistically I'm thinking that the team has a very good chance of being there or thereabouts again come play-offs."
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed defender Danny Coles has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
