Brendan Pearson: Newcastle keeper joins Gateshead on loan

Gateshead are currently sixth in the National League, with 10 points from their opening five league fixtures

National League side Gateshead have signed Newcastle goalkeeper Brendan Pearson on a 28-day youth loan deal.

Newcastle-born Pearson has spent his entire career with the Magpies, but is yet to make an appearance for the club.

The 19-year-old is the second United keeper to join Gateshead on loan, following the arrival of Paul Woolston.

"We're very grateful for Newcastle lending us both goalkeepers at such short notice," Gateshead boss Malcolm Crosby told the club's website.
