Omar Bogle scored his fifth goal of the season to help Grimsby seal all three points against Boreham Wood.
Scott Doe put the ball in his own net, while attempting to clear a free-kick, to send the visitors in front before Bogle doubled from long range.
Nathan Arnold netted Grimsby's third after linking on to Craig Disley's pass to fire past keeper Preston Edwards.
Boreham Wood pulled a goal back when substitute Charlie McDonald nodded home Billy Clifford's pinpoint delivery.
Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:
"To score three goals away from home is always good, and in front of a big away following. I think there was more Grimsby fans here than Boreham Wood which, again, a terrific effort from them.
"I am pleased to get our first win on the road.
"He [Omar Bogle] still has a lot to learn. We're talking about someone who has now scored five goals in eight appearances in the League. If he carries on with that sort of strike rate then he's going to finish with a grand total. I just feel that there's so much more to come from him and, don't forget, he's new to it."
