Lincoln City 1-1 Wrexham

Lincoln hit back to secure a draw with Wrexham in a game that could have been won by either side in a thrilling end.

Both teams were denied by the woodwork in the first half, but the visitors took a second-half lead through James Gray's far-post header.

Matt Rhead hit the bar as Lincoln began to dominate but the dominant striker was soon on target with another header.

Wrexham's Dominic Vose wasted a great chance before Terry Hawkridge become the third home player to hit the bar.

Both sides had a strong penalty appeal turned down in the final stages before Lincoln's Alex Simmons shot wide with the goal at his mercy.

Lincoln assistant boss Grant Brown told BBC Radio Lincolnshire:

"We've come off disappointed not to win but happy that we haven't lost, so we'll settle for a point.

"They had a lot of possession in the first half and created a couple of chances but we've hit the bar four times, scored a good goal and were chasing for the winner.

"We're frustrated we haven't won but happy with the response of the players to show the character to come back and also the desire to believe we could go on and win the game.

"We were direct but why not play to your strengths?"

Wrexham manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio Wales: "I'm pretty pleased with a point.

"If you analyse it we've been up in our last two away games and we've ended up with just a point from the two games.

"Obviously there's a tinge of disappointment there but whenever you go away from home in this league, getting a draw is a good result - make no mistake about that, particularly here.

"No matter what people say, it's hard to defend against long throws."
