Uche Ikpeazu's injury-time strike earned Port Vale victory in a pulsating game against Wigan.
Anthony Grant's blistering shot put Vale ahead and they led 2-0 after the break when Louis Dodds smashed the ball home from eight yards.
A powerful Chris McCann strike and Leon Barnett's header drew the Latics level.
But after Barnett was sent off for a professional foul with two minutes left, Ikpeazu's fourth goal of the season won the points for Vale.
Wigan manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Manchester:
"You can't expect to come back from 2-0 down away from home and do miraculous things like we did last week - it's just not going to happen, football's not like that.
"We have to be braver from the start, we have to be better from the start and we have to improve.
"I think at times we defended very well - but you can't keep defending free-kicks and corners and putting yourselves under pressure against teams like this or you'll be punished."
