Gateshead are third in the National League after beating 10-man Eastleigh.
Danny Johnson gave the visitors the lead when he capitalised on a defensive mix-up before going off on a stretcher.
Matty Pattison increased Gateshead's advantage when his cross fortuitously beat Michael Poke at the far post.
Eastleigh's Ben Strevens was dismissed for an incident in the tunnel but they managed to reduced the deficit after Simon Ramsden put Yemi Odubade's 79th-minute cross into his own net.
Gateshead manager Malcolm Crosby told BBC Newcastle:
"In the first half we were excellent and should have been 4-0 up.
"We didn't really capitalise on Eastleigh being down to 10 men in the second half, but all in all, it's a fantastic result.
"We now look forward to a big game against Wrexham on Tuesday.
"I respect Gary Mills because he did a great job at Gateshead and I'm sure the players who played under him are also looking forward to it."
