Richard Brodie's goal was enough to give Aldershot a third win in four games as they beat Welling in the National League.
The summer signing proved his worth as he got his fifth goal of the season soon after half-time when his deflected shot flashed past Michael McEntegart.
Welling's Harry Lee saw his shot saved by Dan Thomas while Rhys Browne went close for Aldershot from distance.
The visitors had Barney Williams sent off late on for a second booking.
Aldershot Town boss Barry Smith told BBC Surrey:
"Although that's not the best performance we've had here we got three points and I think we've played better and lost at home.
"Credit to the boys for digging into tonight, in the first half we were too deep but in the second we got up the park 15 yards which gives the midfielders a chance to press theirs.
"We dominated the second half and we looked comfortable. The defenders won the game tonight, they defended very strongly, they were disciplined and cleared their lines. Richard scored a great goal but the discipline of the defence won the game."
