Steve Clarke believes his Reading squad has a wealth of striking options now the transfer window has closed.

The Royals signed forwards Matej Vydra, Ola John and Lucas Piazon before the 1 September deadline to bring the number of new summer signings to 11.

Reading will protect an unbeaten home record against Ipswich on Friday.

"I've now got really good options in forward areas, which perhaps is something I didn't have before," Clarke told BBC Radio Berkshire.

Clarke's side are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions and will hope the new additions can build on a 3-1 win in their last match against Brentford.

"I think they (the new signings) have all settled in really well," he added.

"This is Reading's team. It belongs to the football club, it belongs to the supporters. It's not the manager's team.

"As a manager, I've chosen to make some changes to the squad, but that's what I'm paid for.

"I will have to be clever and intelligent in how I use those resources, when to put players in, when to leave players out, find different ways of playing which can upset the opposition.

"When I look at the squad we've got now and the creativity, I think it's a team that will create chances and score goals."
