Grimsby Town 1-1 Tranmere Rovers

Nathan Blissett
Ex-Kidderminster Harriers striker Blissett signed for Tranmere on loan from Bristol Rovers in August

On-loan striker Nathan Blissett came up with a second-half equaliser to rescue a point at Grimsby as Tranmere again battled back to claim an away point.

After coming from two down to draw 2-2 at Southport in midweek, substitute Blissett hit his first goal for Rovers just three minutes after coming on.

Grimsby had led through Jon-Paul Pittman's ninth-minute right-foot shot.

But Steve Jennings set up Blissett to find the bottom corner with a right-foot shot from 12 yards.

Grimsby remain in seventh, a place above Tranmere, ahead of the rest of Saturday's National League programme.

Grimsby boss Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I thought it was a fair result. I think you have to judge a game over 90 minutes.

"Credit to Tranmere, although we got in front early, they started the game the better and in the second half got level.

"Then we really started to come to life and after that there was only one team going on to win it. But over the course of the game I would say a draw was fair."
