Burnley's four-game winning run came to an end as they were held to goalless draw in the Championship at Derby.

Clarets winger George Boyd sliced the best chance of a low-key first half over the bar from eight yards.

Richard Keogh saw a header cleared off the line by Tendayi Darikwa and Chris Martin's 25-yard drive was pushed away by Tom Heaton as the Rams went close.

Burnley striker Sam Vokes also forced two routine saves out of Scott Carson as the sides shared the points.

The draw lifts Burnley up a place to third in the table, while also extending Derby's unbeaten run to three games following back-to-back wins at Preston and Reading.

Can we play you every week?
Burnley are now unbeaten in their last 11 games against Derby County, winning eight of them.

However, the Rams are still yet to win at home under new head coach Paul Clement and struggled to create clear openings.

Burnley, who named former QPR midfielder Joey Barton on the bench for the first time since signing last month, lost record signing Andre Gray to a hamstring injury in the first half but went closest to scoring during that opening period when Boyd miscued his effort over the bar.

The game finally opened up in the last 20 minutes. First Vokes fired straight at Carson from 25 yards and Darikwa was perfectly placed to deny Keogh his first goal since December 2013.

Burnley keeper Heaton tipped away midfielder George Thorne's long-range effort and kept out Martin's shot, and Vokes forced another save out of Carson.

Derby head coach Paul Clement told BBC Radio Derby:

"We tried everything to win it and played really well in the second half. We had to be patient and wait for our opportunities and we did have some in the end.

"I was really pleased with the energy, the pressing of the players and the way they raised their intensity levels in the second half.

"The players are really deflated in the dressing room because they are pushing and pushing and not getting the results at home that their efforts deserve. There was one team trying to win the game and one team happy with the draw.

"If we keep playing like that we will pick up a lot of positive results."

Burnley boss Sean Dyche told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"Coming off the back of four wins, to come here and get a clean sheet and a point is a very good result.

"We've had to fight really hard in the second half. First half, I thought we were excellent. The way the back five played tonight was absolutely exceptional."

On Andre Gray's injury:

"It looks like a minor hamstring, but we'll have to wait and see. I think it's more likely to be a minor one than a serious one."
