Managerless FC Halifax Town held high-flying Gateshead to claim a hard-fought point at the Shay.
Hamza Bencherif pulled an effort wide in the opening 30 seconds before Jordan Burrow blasted a penalty against the crossbar as the hosts missed chances.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Jon Shaw headed Ryan Bowman's flick-on beyond Matt Glennon.
Halifax deservedly levelled in the second half when James Bolton headed home Sam Walker's pinpoint corner.
James Marwood had the chance to win it late on for the Tynesiders, but pulled a 12-yard shot past the post.
Halifax have now drawn back-to-back games under caretaker manager Gareth McClelland, but have still won just once all season.
