Oldham Athletic 1-1 Wigan Athletic

Dominic Poleon scored his first goal of the season to earn Oldham a point at home to 10-man Wigan.

After home debutant Michael Higdon hit the post, Wigan took the lead thanks to Max Power's 30-yard strike - his first goal for the club.

Wigan were reduced to 10 men when Jordan Flores kicked out at Jay Fulton after the Oldham midfielder's tackle.

Oldham, under the interim management of David Dunn, levelled when Higdon knocked down for Poleon to score.

The draw leaves Dunn's side one point and one place above the League One relegation places, while Wigan are two points off the play-off places in ninth.

Oldham manager David Dunn told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I thought we deserved the point, a little bit disappointed that we didn't come away with all three points.

"Wigan are a good side and they'll be right up there at the end of the season.

"After the two games I've had, I'm disappointed today a little bit, especially with going against 10 men late on, I thought we could have maybe capitalised a little bit but it wasn't to be."

Wigan manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We had to defend. I'd have liked to be have been better on the ball with 10 men.

"I thought we could have still caused them problems with 10 men.

"We got a bit anxious and started clearing it rather than passing it."
