Scunthorpe United 1-0 Fleetwood Town

Paddy Madden's second half strike helped Scunthorpe United win against Fleetwood Town to lift themselves out of the League Two bottom four.

Fleetwood almost went ahead when Victor Nirennold teed up David Ball but his shot was tipped over by Luke Daniels.

Madden sealed three points for the hosts with his sixth goal of the season as he fired past Chris Maxwell.

Scunthorpe move up to 20th place at the expense of managerless Fleetwood who slip to 23rd and are winless in eight.

Scunthorpe assistant manager Ned Kelly told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We've gone a few games without tasting victory and it wasn't the greatest game, but it was really, really important to get the three points and get us up and running again.

"It wasn't a great spectacle but three points is absolutely huge in the league and we've not had three points for a while.

"We were better second-half because we were more patient, but building the ball up quickly and a little bit too slow - but just delighted to get the victory."
