Win rate of 17%?I blame City.
A few clubs, like Spurs are investing in British youth, Rose, Walker, Davies, Alli, Dier,Carroll,Townsend,Mason,Kane.Who else is doing that ? And they play a high pressure style.About time all teams have to have 6 players who qualify for GB national sides. Was like this a long way back and no guarantee of success but ManU and Liverpool did OK.Worth a try than this mediocre foreign obsessed mess
The issue is the lack of quality signings and short term thinking. Managers don't get time to build a side and are forced into marquee signings that don't fit a game plan. It's all about marketing not about tactics and structure. The defeats are deserved and tell the true story.
723. Sams Town You said it took SAF 13 years to win CLWRONG!Not only that but you put it again @ 723 - what an idiot!!!!England weren't in Europe until 1990 so that would mean (according to you) SAF 1st won it in 2003??WRONG!Now you say it didn't exist until 1992 - so it took 5 years to get to the semi - 5 years, how many decades since city had a manager for 5 whole years?
Well, could it be because of the people in charge? I see the FA has announced it is backing Platini for FIFA role - on the evidence, he would appear well qualified for it.
Lets be honest....WHO THE HELL CARES!
Why aren't they doing well? Because they're not very good. Also, continental teams learned lessons from our style of play 20 years ago and work a lot harder, whereas our clubs have gone in the opposite direction. Too much style over substance.
I think it IS all doom and gloom. The premier league is dominated by mega rich clubs who know the cost of everything but the value of nothing.Only got to look at Chelsea's mass "on loan" policy to see that Sky are destroying football in this country.Yes the PL is still a draw...just IMO. I can see it fading as we bath is "our league is best" myth for years to come. Spain/Germany are not any better
713. MouseTrap Sorry..but you are completely wrong..and getting the European competitions confusedFergie didn't win the league until 1993...so the European ban didn't affect Man Utd chances of winning the European Cup... the Champs League only commenced in 1992.it took Fergie 13 years to win the Champs League(also sorry the investment at City makes you so disappointed & angry)
Would be nice if the article contained wage analysis as well...My guess would be the concentration of wealth in Spain and Germany! Germany has a single top club while Spain has 2. In England, the pool of wealth is shared because there is competition between the top4-5 clubs.
Arrogance is the main problem, some clubs ooze it from their management through to their fans. Teams like Arsenal are just an embarrassment to the EPL, they stride about like they have already won, totally disrespecting their opponents..serves them right to be knocked down a peg or two.
