Former Motherwell and Ross County defender Steven Saunders has been handed a short-term contract until January by Dumbarton.
The 24-year-old, who won one cap for Scotland in 2010, was released by County this summer.
Sons manager Steve Aitken said: "He's a player I wanted to bring to the club when I first joined as manager.
"With Scott Taggart likely to be out for a while and with Stevie still available, the timing is right."
Saunders spent two seasons with County and made 20 appearances for the Dingwall club, only seven of them last season.
