Simon Walton's penalty proved decisive for Crawley

Crawley recovered from going behind early on to beat 10-man Leyton Orient for a first home win of the season.

Jay Simpson put the Os ahead when he drove a rebound past debutant Crawley keeper Callum Preston.

Roarie Deacon's shot in off an upright made it 1-1 before defender Mitch Hancox's low strike put Crawley ahead.

Alan Dunne's foul on Rhys Murphy saw him sent off and Simon Walton converted the penalty, before Simpson reduced the deficit for Orient from 15 yards.

Crawley Town defender Mitch Hancox told BBC Surrey:

"I was delighted [with his first senior goal]. I whipped the corner and when the corner came out I had a good touch and saw the opening so I just went for it.

"I didn't know how to celebrate, I just stuck two arms in the air. I was trying to concentrate getting the ball in the box because Matty Harrold was in there and Rhys Murphy a fox in the box.

"We dug deep as a team. We defended well as a team for the whole game, so in the first half we had a spell when we battered them. As a team performance we did really well."

Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon told BBC Radio London:

"We could have been two up, possibly three, but defensively today, we made mistakes.

"It looked very clumsy and looked like a penalty, I don't think it should have been a sending off, but if you look closely at the video, the lad was already on his way down before Dunney got anywhere near him.

"We've taken the game to them for long periods, even in the second half with 10 men.

"I don't think it's about our formation, I think defensively, we just need to switch on."
