Bromley 1-2 Cheltenham Town

Asa Hall
Asa Hall joined Cheltenham following his release by Shrewsbury in the summer of 2014

Substitute Asa Hall's stoppage-time goal earned Cheltenham Town victory at fellow promotion hopefuls Bromley.

Billy Waters had put Cheltenham ahead after Kyle Storer's long-range strike was pushed into his path by home goalkeeper Chris Kettings.

Anthony Cook looked to have rescued a point for the hosts after he was brought down by George McLennan in the box and slotted home the penalty.

But in the first minute of injury time Hall smashed the ball in from 10 yards.

All of the goals came in the final 12 minutes after both sides had struck the woodwork.

Cheltenham's goalkeeper Dillon Phillips also made a string of fine saves, denying Moses Emmanuel three times.

The National League's top scorer saw a one-on-one effort kept out by Phillips and a shot pushed around the post in the first half.

Early in the second-half, Phillips palmed a stinging effort from the striker over the bar before the late drama unfolded.

Cheltenham remain in second but now only two points behind Forest Green who were beaten at Eastleigh, while Bromley drop a place to fifth.

Cheltenham Town boss Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"I'm bound to say it was great character in adversity, it was a penalty - of course - and George McLennan was beating himself up, but the lads showed that character to come back straight away.

"At that point I thought we'd outrun Bromley, I thought they'd lost their legs, lost their spirit and we felt that in the next couple of minutes we would get another chance.

"Asa Hall's come up with a great strike, he does that often in training. And they were two good substitutions by the manager!"
