Warren Feeney says family and career reasons were behind his decision to quit as Linfield boss to become assistant manager at Newport County.

The former Northern Ireland international guided the Blues to the top of the Irish Premiership.

The Belfast club offered Feeney a contract extension in a last-ditch bid to keep him at Windsor Park.
