Huddersfield Town 2-0 MK Dons

Nahki Wells
Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells scored his third goal of the season

Huddersfield Town recorded their their first league win in four matches with victory against MK Dons.

Nahki Wells gave the hosts the lead after the break when he capitalised on a poor backpass by Kyle McFadzean.

Daniel Powell could have given the visitors a point late on but his powerful shot went over the crossbar.

Teenage debutant Florent Bojaj then pounced on another Dons defensive error in added time and set Jamie Paterson up to seal the win.

The visitors had the first chance to break the deadlock when Jordan Spence set up Nicky Maynard, who tried to catch Jed Steer off his line, but the hosts' goalkeeper reacted well.

In a quiet first half with few chances, Carl Baker volleyed over when Joel Lynch's defensive header fell to him, while MK Dons keeper David Martin palmed away Ishmael Miller's powerful effort from 20 yards.

Wells pounced onto McFadzean's defensive error, racing onto his under-hit pass and slotting home.

Sean Scannell almost doubled the hosts' advantage as he drilled in an effort from long range, but the ball went into the side-netting.

In added time, the Terriers wrapped it up when the Dons were caught at the back again, this time Bojaj being on hand to set up Paterson for his first goal for the club.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell:

"Nahki showed the instinct of a striker to keep calm and finish it. When you get presents like that there's no one better on the pitch for it to fall to."

"We had to be patient and stay organised. Jed Steer didn't have a save to make and we got the rewards we deserved. To a man the players showed a great attitude.

"We want to win games and that's four points from two games and now we want seven. We face Derby on Saturday and know we must dig deep."

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson:

"We were rubbish and that includes me. The players have played ever so well for me at times and I cannot ask any more.

"I back my players all the way but when they don't perform I let them know. We were lethargic and sometimes that happens.

"We have had a consistency in our performance but not in results and that's the same for most of the teams in the bottom 12 in this league."
