Match ends, Hull City 3, Ipswich Town 0.
Alex Bruce scored against his former club as Hull moved into the play-off places with a convincing victory over Ipswich at the KC Stadium.
First-half substitute Bruce stayed in the box after a corner and glanced in Sam Clucas's whipped cross from the left at the back post.
Chuba Akpom doubled the hosts' lead, tapping in Moses Odubajo's cross.
And David Meyler rounded off the win in the second half with a excellent volley from outside the box.
Abel Hernandez and Clucas both missed good opportunities to give Hull the lead as Ahmed Elmohamady produced a number of excellent crosses from the right.
After Curtis Davies hobbled off 17 minutes into the match, Bruce netted his first goal in 76 games for the Tigers.
With Ipswich pressing for a quick response, Jonathan Parr lost possession to Odubajo, whose clever one-two with Hernandez allowed him to create an easy chance for Akpom to convert.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy brought on Freddie Sears and Ainsley Maitland-Niles for the second half but it was Hull who struck again as Meyler scored his first goal in the league this season.
The away side managed just two shots on target as their winless run in the league stretched to five matches.
Hull manager Steve Bruce told BBC Radio Humberside:
"We were excellent. We all want to try and go quickly forward, but teams like Ipswich now have changed.
"Mick's gone and played five in midfield and one up top, that's the respect he's shown us, and it was important that we were a bit patient and when the chances came, we took them.
"In the end it's a comfortable, comfortable victory for us and easily our best performance of the season.
"We've got a lot of young lads all learning their trade a bit and with that you get up and down performances but today was a good performance."
