Aberdeen: Niall McGinn picks up monthly player award
Aberdeen's Niall McGinn is the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership player of the month for September.
The 28-year-old Northern Ireland forward played in league wins over Celtic, Hamilton and Hearts last month, scoring at Tynecastle.
Those victories stretched the Dons' perfect opening to the season to eight on the trot.
Aberdeen remain top of the table but have suffered defeats in their last three outings.
McGinn featured in last week's matches against Greece and Finland as Northern Ireland finished top of their group to land a place at Euro 2016.
"It's probably been the best week of my whole career and this award just tops it off," he enthused.
"I wasn't even born the last time Northern Ireland qualified for a major tournament!
"To be part of that is obviously very special. We'll go down in history.
"My confidence is good and I'm looking forward to getting back to club football again."
Aberdeen travel to Ross County on Friday and McGinn is anxious to turn in a display that will expel the painful memory of the last outing - a shock 5-1 home defeat to St Johnstone.
"We were never going to go the whole season unbeaten," he explained. "But the nature of the loss wasn't good enough.
"We need to get back to the drawing board and work on things on the training ground.
"We're still top of the league. It could be a lot worse."
