Manager Chris Hughton believes Brighton can still improve, despite their excellent start to the season.
The Seagulls entered the recent international break top of the Championship after 10 matches, although they have drawn their last three.
"Our feeling going into the break was that in the last three games we should have got more points," boss Hughton told BBC Sussex.
"We felt we just needed to be a little bit more clinical in that period."
Albion, who face Leeds on Saturday, are two points clear of second-placed Middlesbrough.
Hughton added: "I think that's a good feeling to have, because we are in a very good position at the moment and we can't complain about where we are.
"In the 10 games that we've had, although we've had periods of games where we've not been at our best, we've always been in there with a chance of winning it.
"If we can keep doing that then I think we'll be delighted."
