Hayden White scored his first senior goal as Blackpool beat Crewe to move out of the League One relegation zone.
The full-back, on loan from Bolton, struck from the edge of the area on 64 minutes to give the Seasiders a well deserved lead.
Crewe defender Chris Atkinson then fouled David Norris in the penalty area on 87 minutes and Jack Redshaw coolly slotted the ball home from the spot.
That condemned the struggling visitors to a third consecutive defeat.
The Alex, who were handicapped by an early second-half injury to midfielder David Fox when the game was still 0-0, are now five points from safety at the bottom, having failed to score in their last three matches.
Blackpool have lifted themselves up to 19th, now two points above the bottom four.
Crewe manager Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I didn't think there was a lot in it. We were the better side in the first half without forcing their keeper into too many saves. There wasn't a lot in the second half either.
"That is three games on the bounce that we haven't scored. The forwards know we cannot rely on keeping clean-sheets all the time. They need to be more dangerous. The wingers need to create and score more and step up.
"It was a blow to lose David Fox when we did. He had been a great influence on what we were doing and had a few shots as well. He seemed to twist his back when he had a shot and couldn't continue."
