Paul Hayes' late equaliser ended Wycombe's run of four consecutive defeats against 10-man Carlisle.
United's Luke Joyce was shown a straight red card with an hour still to play for a challenge on Sam Wood.
Troy Archibald-Henville latched on to a Danny Grainger corner to head Carlisle into the lead after the restart before Wycombe's Marcus Bean hit the woodwork.
Hayes drew the Chairboys level inside injury time when he lobbed goalkeeper Mark Gillespie from outside the area.
Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"I'm really pleased today. It's 1-1 draw against a team with 10 men, they should never have got their goal, that was sloppy from us.
"To come back after they parked the bus like that, really good performances today.
"It's steps forward from Tuesday, that's the important thing. If we can improve every game that's positive for Wycombe Wanderers. The lads are gutted they didn't win but I reminded them it's a lot better place than Tuesday night.
"To stop the losing run was really important today. It would've been great to win. It was fantastic, created a lot of chances."
