Bury defender Peter Clarke says the Shakers have a "real opportunity" to make the play-offs after extending their unbeaten league run to 10 games.
David Flitcroft's side are fourth in League One following Saturday's goalless draw with Rochdale, having lost just once this term.
"Expectations have probably risen a little with the start we've had," Clarke, 33, told BBC Radio Manchester.
"We've got a real belief that we can do very well in this division."
Bury, who won automatic promotion from League Two last season, have not lost in the league since defeat by Fleetwood Town on 18 August.
"We're still a new team to the division in reality, but I think we'll be all right," added Clarke, who signed from Blackpool in June.
"I don't think we'll be near that bottom part of the division and I think a top-half finish is certainly attainable.
"If we have a little bit of luck and some good fortune over the course of the season, I think we've got a real opportunity to make the play-offs, and who knows what else may occur."
