Wigan Athletic 1-0 Swindon Town

Francisco Junior
Francisco Junior made his only Everton appearance in the League Cup in 2012

Francisco Junior's injury-time winner gave high-flying Wigan a scrappy League One win over struggling Swindon.

Town twice went close early on as Anton Rodgers fired wide when well-placed and Ben Gladwin's shot hit the post.

But Athletic had the better of the game, Will Grigg having a shot cleared off the line, and Swindon keeper Lawrence Vigouroux denying Reece James.

And when Vigouroux failed to clear, Everton loanee Junior prodded home from close range to keep Wigan fifth.

Wigan manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Manchester:

Caldwell on Wigan v Swindon

"You don't think the goal's going to come but it is not the first time we have done it.

"It is no coincidence as this group of players keep going right until the very end and ask questions of teams. They keep pushing.

"We got what we deserved in the end as we threw everything at them in the second half."
