Accrington Stanley midfielder Josh Windass has scored eight goals this season

Midfielder Josh Windass scored his eighth goal of the season to give Accrington Stanley all three points against Leyton Orient.

Orient almost took the lead when Connor Essam nodded the ball to Ollie Palmer, but Billy Kee blocked his shot.

Stanley broke the deadlock midway through the first half when Windass tapped home Kee's through ball.

The hosts came close to rescuing a point but Palmer could not convert Jay Simpson's late corner.

Leyton Orient manager Ian Hendon told BBC Radio London:

"Disappointed is the biggest understatement. That is just not acceptable and we have had a discussion.

"We had some good opportunities to score and we didn't take them. I'm not papering over any cracks here.

"We were not good enough by any stretch of the imagination and I will be dealing with that in training tomorrow - and we will get it right."
