Fleetwood Town boss Steve Pressley was happy to see his side win ugly at Barnsley, but hopes to change their playing style.
The former Scotland centre-back replaced Graham Alexander at Highbury Stadium at the start of the month and picked up his second win.
The ex-Falkirk and Coventry boss was pleased with their 1-0 win at Oakwell.
"Well I'm not going to apologise for the performance," the 42-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It was winning ugly but I thought it was a defensive masterclass from us. I thought we gave up very, very few chances against a very creative side.
"I was so proud of our group because the first steps to recovery are always doing the fundamentals of the game well and we did them brilliantly.
"Moving forward, it's not how I want to see us win, but all I want to see us do just now is win games of football."
The Cod Army have also extended the loan spell of Stoke defender Dionatan Teixeira until 2 January.
