Brighton & Hove Albion defender Gaetan Bong will be out for around three months with a thigh injury.
The 27-year-old left-back underwent surgery on a ruptured tendon in his left thigh on Wednesday.
"Losing Gaetan is a big blow for us, as he has been excellent and an important part of our success," Seagulls boss Chris Hughton told the club website.
"However, I've no doubt he'll come through rehabilitation and be back to full fitness for us in the new year."
Cameroon international Bong suffered the injury in the closing stages of Saturday's 0-0 draw with Preston.
He has made 14 appearances for Brighton since his summer move to the Amex Stadium.
