Match ends, Chester FC 3, Kidderminster Harriers 1.
Ross Hannah scored twice as Chester came from behind to beat struggling Kidderminster Harriers.
The visitors took a first-half lead when Kelvin Langmead poked in, before Chester scored a controversial leveller when Hannah steered home despite Kyle Howkins being down injured.
John Rooney put City ahead 28 seconds after the break from Hannah's cross.
Hannah then completed the comeback for Steve Burr's side against his old club after Rooney's shot was parried.
Harriers remain 23rd in the National League, having won just once in 20 matches this season, eight points from safety.
Burr's Chester rise to 14th, five points adrift of the play-offs, after their third win in four league matches.
The hosts had teenage Everton academy striker Calum Dyson making his debut off the bench following his arrival on a one-month loan.
Chester manager Steve Burr told BBC Radio Merseyside:
"We went behind against the run of play but we should already have been in front as we created a number of chances. Their keeper has made some good saves.
"We played some really good stuff and that's what I want to see. I know how happy the fans will be with that. We're always at our best when we're playing at a tempo. It reflected how I want my team to play.
"We've got everybody back fit now. We have a decent squad and hopefully now we can use this as a platform to kick on and go up the table."
Harriers head coach Dave Hockaday told BBC H&W:
"Over the 90 minutes they played better than us. But goals change games and it's all down to moments. We feel a bit hard done, but that is out of our hands. The referee had to stop the game (for Chester's equaliser) as it was a head injury but he didn't, and instead of it being 1-0 at half time it was 1-1.
"There's nothing we can do about that but it's a hard one to take. We can have a grumble but the performance level just has to be better. It wasn't as good as it was against Woking.
"We had three great chances in the second half and didn't take them, and their second goal was just a catalogue of wrong decisions. We shot ourselves in the foot with a sloppy bit of play."
