Paul Mullin scored the only goal as Morecambe beat Dagenham & Redbridge to secure their first win in five games.
The Shrimps almost opened the scoring when Tom Barkhuizen fired just wide after a brilliant 70-yard run.
When Josh Passley fouled Shaun Beeley, Mullin saw Liam O'Brien save his penalty but scored the rebound.
Dagenham could have levelled in injury time but Jamie Cureton saw a tame volley saved and they remain just a point above the bottom two.
Morecambe, who had conceded eight goals in two outings prior to the win, move up to 13th in the table.
