Manager Steve Housham praised Gainsborough Trinity's fantastic display in the FA Cup first-round loss against League One side Shrewsbury.
The National League North strugglers lost 1-0 to a 71st-minute goal but hit the post before the winner and nearly scored late on through Stephen Brogan.
Housham, whose side are 16th in their league, told BBC Lincolnshire: "I am proud of everyone involved.
"We are gutted, but the performance of the players and fans was fantastic."
Trinity return to league action on Saturday when they face FC United of Manchester.
"We have to take heart from that performance and get our league performances back on track," Housham said. "We were so close and caused them problems.
"We are going to a big club who are on a bad run and we have to capitalise on that."
