Ian Henderson scored two late goals as Rochdale ended a run of seven League One games without a win by beating Doncaster.
The home side had the best chances but it was Dale who took the lead when Henderson struck home from 20 yards.
The forward sealed the victory deep into stoppage time when he tapped in from close range after Donal McDermott had set up the chance.
Victory sees Rochdale move up to 13th, while Rovers remain in 16th.
Rochdale manager Keith Hill told BBC Radio Manchester:
"It's a perfect result, I wouldn't say it was a perfect performance over 90 minutes.
"There was perfection within that performance but the end result is really important for us.
"I think there were a few questioning our ability this season."
