Walsall 1-1 Sheffield United

Jose Baxter
Jose Baxter has scored seven goals for Sheffield United this season

Third-placed Walsall failed to make the most of Gillingham's defeat by Coventry as they were held by Sheffield United.

The hosts had the better of the first half as Blades keeper George Long denied Kieron Morris, Tom Bradshaw and Romaine Sawyers, while Paul Downing and Milan Lalkovic both hit the woodwork.

The hosts took the lead when top scorer Tom Bradshaw converted Sawyers' pass after the break.

Jose Baxter levelled in the 66th minute with a low left-footed shot.

Walsall manager Dean Smith told BBC WM:

"Yes I feel disappointed, it's two points lost rather than a point gained.

"We were so dominant first half, against a good team as well with good players.

"If we'd have gone in 3-0 at half-time, I think that would've been a fair scoreline, such was our play, our movement our passing."
