Alloa Athletic 0-1 Hibernian

Jason Cummings
Jason Cummings made it 14 goals for the season with the winner for Hibernian

Jason Cummings struck his 14th goal of the season to move Hibernian level on points with Scottish Championship leaders Rangers.

The visitors spurned plenty of other chances, while Alloa, for whom defender Dougie Hill was sent off, remain without a home win this season.

Dominique Malonga and John McGinn went close for Hibs before Cummings drilled in a low shot from inside the area.

Fraser Fyvie fired over late on as Hibs made it nine wins in a row.

With Rangers dropping points away to Livingston, who Hibs had defeated in midweek, it allowed the Easter Road men to move level at the top with Mark Warburton's side, although they have played a game more.

Although not at their best on a poor quality artificial surface, Hibs are now unbeaten in 15 games, winning 14 of those.

Visiting defender Darren McGregor headed wide early on and Alloa had their best chance of the first half when former Cardiff and Sunderland striker Michael Chopra's shot flew the wrong side of a post.

Malonga, back from international duty with Congo, wasted an opportunity as he pulled his close-range effort wide and midfielder McGinn's shot forced Alloa goalkeeper Andy McNeil to parry.

Liam Fontaine forced a fine save from Alloa's substitute goalkeeper David Crawford before and Hibs took a deserved through Cummings.

Alan Stubbs' side threatened again through David Gray's header and a Cummings header was then fumbled by Crawford, before Hill was sent off for his second bookable offence.

The 10 men almost conceded a second before the end when Fyvie crashed his shot over the crossbar.
