Newport County: Boss Sheridan maintains search for striker

Newport County manager John Sheridan says he is still planning to recruit a striker after one deal fell through.

Sheridan wants cover when on-loan Zak Ansah returns to Charlton next month.

"I've been trying to bring someone in and I was hoping he would be here for the weekend. It was all done and he's let us down big time," said Sheridan.

"Obviously with Zak Ansah going back, I'm looking to fill that area and make sure we've got a bit of strength in depth for when that comes."

County are unbeaten in their last six games and ended an eight month winless home spell with a 4-1 victory over Brackley Town in the FA Cup.

"I was confident we were going to win, with no disrespect to Brackley, but it didn't really count for me," said Sheridan.

"I'm sure the fans want us to get a League win under our belt and that's what I am looking at and hopefully we can.

"It's a tough game on Saturday [against Yeovil] against a team who are in and around where we are."
