Eastleigh have signed Notts County defender Wes Atkinson on a month-long emergency loan deal.

The former West Bromwich Albion trainee joins the National League club with a view to a possible extension.

"He's a good player who's athletic, full of energy and hungry," manager Chris Todd told BBC Radio Solent.

Atkinson, 21, has made one appearance for County this season in the Football League Trophy and spent two months on loan at Cambridge United last season.

As well as right-back, Atkinson can also play centre-back and in midfield. He will be included in the squad for the visit of Grimsby on Saturday.

"He's the type of player we want at this football club," Todd added. "He'll be a good addition, an extra bonus to the squad and one I've had my eye on for a while."
