Stenhousemuir 2-2 East Kilbride

By Kenny CrawfordBBC Scotland at Ochilview Park

Stuart Malcolm's last-minute header saved Stenhousemuir from being knocked out the Scottish Cup by Lowland League side East Kilbride,

Kilby went ahead through Bernard Coll's stunning left-foot strike before Sean Winter doubled the visitors' lead with a close-range header.

In atrocious rain and wind, Jason Scotland turned home from a corner to give Stenny a life-line.

Then Malcolm popped up to ensure a replay at K Park next Saturday.

When that equaliser went in, almost every East Kilbride player sank to their knees in despair at seeing the chance of taking a League One team's scalp fall through their fingers at the death.

Hope remains for the replay, but the fact that Malcolm dealt them the crucial blow was a sore one in itself.

For the big centre-back had earlier appeared to foul Kilby striker Jack Smith in the box, but no penalty was awarded.

Smith's pace had been a constant nuisance to Brown Ferguson's men and the young forward - son of former Dunfermline Athletic striker Andy Smith - missed a brilliant opportunity to put East Kilbride 3-0 up earlier in the game.

Home fans hounded an experienced Stenny team - containing not only the former Dundee United striker Scotland but also ex-Tangerines winger Jim Paterson - until signs of a comeback were on in the final quarter of the match.

The Warriors did, indeed, fight their way back into the tie, but Kilby boss Billy Ogilvie will look to cause them more grief when the replay arrives.
