Gateshead 1-0 Chester

Gateshead marked new boss Neil Aspin's first game in charge by beating Chester in the National League to record their first home win since 15 September.

During a scrappy first half, Chester's Tom Shaw saw a shot blocked on the line by Simon Ramsden, before hitting the post from the rebound.

But Gateshead scored the only goal when Chester's Alex Whitmore diverted CJ Hamilton's shot into his own net.

The win lifts Gateshead to 11th place, while Chester sit in 15th.
