Dagenham & Redbridge 1-1 Whitehawk

An injury-time equaliser from substitute Jordan Rose took National League South side Whitehawk into the draw for the third round of the FA Cup.

Defender Rose, 26, headed home a cross from Sam Deering to deny League Two side Dagenham a first home win of the season and set up a replay in Sussex.

Veteran striker Jamie Cureton, 40, had put Dagenham ahead with a shot on the turn after four minutes.

But Whitehawk dominated for long spells and deserved their late leveller.

The part-timers had not reached this stage of the competition before and it looked as though their run would end thanks to Cureton's fifth goal of the season.

Mendy Arnaud had an effort disallowed before half-time following an earlier foul as Whitehawk - who are based on the outskirts of Brighton - pressed for an equaliser.

Steve King's side then took control in the the second half but Arnaud volleyed wide with 15 minutes to go.

When top scorer Danny Mills, who had scored in every round of the competition so far, missed a headed chance moments later it looked as though Dagenham would scrape through.

But Rose, who was a youth-team player with Bournemouth before playing in the League with Stockport County, nodded into the top corner four minutes into added time to put Whitehawk's name alongside Dagenham's into Monday evening's third-round draw, which features the Premier League clubs.

How they saw it

Whitehawk goalscorer Jordan Rose told BBC Sport: "I can't put it into words. It's amazing.

"Just before I scored I had a chance when the ball rolled across goal when I should have been there, so I thought that was it.

"But we got one more chance and made it count.

"Once you see your name in that draw it makes the replay so much more important. We will give them a real game at our place and hopefully we can do it there."

Whitehawk manager Steve King: "It's nothing more than we deserved. We scored a perfectly good goal as well which was disallowed, so we had to do it the hard way.

"I am so pleased for Jordan. He has been out of the game for two years with a broken leg and has come back and scored four or five goals from centre-half.

"We said get up there and get another goal and he did."

Dagenham and Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett: "Whitehawk got everything they deserved. A draw was a fair result.

"They were better than us in the second half. We will have to play better in the replay."
