Reading midfielder Danny Williams believes confidence can return to the squad with a strong run to Christmas.

The Royals will look to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest when they host QPR on Thursday.

Steve Clarke's side have won just once in their last seven Championship games and have fallen out of the top six.

"In this division, if you have a good month you can quickly get yourself back in touch with the top," Williams told BBC Radio Berkshire.

Williams netted a goal in Reading's only victory of November, against Bolton, and believes a short turnaround before the QPR game will help.

"There's nothing worse than losing a game and not being able to get out there quickly to turn things around," he said.

"We've shown in the early stages of this season that we can beat any team in this division.

"It's about getting the confidence of winning again. The performance doesn't matter too much, it's about getting the points to get the buzz back in the dressing room."
