Scotland have fallen to 52 in the world in the latest FIFA rankings.
Failure to secure qualification for Euro 2016 has seen the Scots drop outside the world's top 50 for the first time since 2012.
They now trail the likes of Congo, Trinidad & Tobago and Guinea in the standings.
Belgium top the rankings, with Scotland's 2018 World Cup qualifying opponents England remaining ninth.
Gordon Strachan's men were 28th in the rankings as recently as June, but a run of just one win - against Gibraltar - in their final four Euro 2016 qualifiers has resulted in a drop in their ranking. They have fallen eight places from the November rankings.
Scotland's other opponents in Group F of World Cup qualifying are Slovakia, who are ranked 26, Slovenia (61), Lithuania (126) and Malta (162).
