Port Vale 1-1 Scunthorpe United

AJ Leitch-Smith scored his sixth goal in seven games as Port Vale were held to a draw by Scunthorpe United.

Jack King put Scunthorpe in front, getting a boot to Luke Williams' corner to flick home past keeper Jak Alnwick.

Leitch-Smith levelled in first-half stoppage-time, doing well to control a Chris Birchall pass to fire low past goalkeeper Luke Daniels.

Vale's Michael O'Connor struck the post with a free-kick after the break and Daniels denied Ryan McGivern late on.

Scunthorpe manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

"It was a hard-fought draw in terrible, terrible conditions. As far as the game is concerned it sort of ebbed and flowed, there was end-to-end at times, mistakes a plenty and the pitch made it difficult.

"I attended the pitch inspection this morning and it was touch-and-go at that stage but thankfully we got it played and we earned a point. We come away, move on from this game without any injuries and concentrate on the game on Tuesday (FA Cup second-round replay against Leyton Orient).

"It was fairly exciting I suppose in terms of goalmouth action and too many of them were in our goalmouth."
