Charlton Athletic 2-2 Bolton Wanderers

Bolton striker Emile Heskey
Former Leicester and Liverpool striker Heskey won 62 caps for England between 1997 and 2010

Emile Heskey's first goal in almost a year sparked Bolton's fightback as the Championship's bottom side earned a point at fellow strugglers Charlton.

The Addicks led after 27 seconds when Ademola Lookman fired in, before the 18-year-old forward doubled their lead from close range.

Heskey tapped in his first goal since Boxing Day, then Josh Vela smashed in a deflected 25-yard effort to level.

But Wanderers could not go on to claim their first league win since September.

The visitors remain bottom, six points adrift of safety, amid increasing turmoil at the Macron Stadium.

Boss Neil Lennon has questioned his future after only one win in 21 matches, while he admitted players could decide to leave if they are not paid for the second successive month.

Bolton are £172.9m in debt and facing a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs over £600,000 of unpaid taxes.

The mood at Charlton is not rosy either, with fans protesting against the club's owners in recent weeks.

And the failure of Karel Fraeye's side to hold onto their two-goal lead saw the Addicks join their opponents in the bottom three.

Charlton interim head coach Karel Fraeye:

"A point against Bolton at home is useless.

"We played good football up to 32 minutes. Maybe my players were over-confident and we forgot how we managed to get to 2-0 by playing football. And we got punished.

"I am not disappointed - I am angry. When we play Bolton at home, it is up to us to dictate the play. We can't be happy with what we did on the ball."

Bolton manager Neil Lennon:

"I'm disappointed we didn't take all three points but I'm very, very pleased with the character and the quality that the team showed.

"At 2-0 you're looking down the barrel of a gun with the situation that we're in, and they played their way out of it, scored two excellent goals, and really were the stronger team as the game went on.

"It's just how long we can keep Emile Heskey going. If he keeps playing like that then he's still making a valuable contribution.

"It's not just his play, it's his influence around the place as well. We asked a big performance of him and we certainly got that."
