Manager John Sheridan is confident Newport County will bounce back after their first League Two defeat in eight games.

Newport, who are seven point clear of the relegation zone, lost 4-3 at Notts County on Saturday.

Sheridan's side host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday and the manager is confident of a response from his players.

"We don't look like a team who are third or fourth from the bottom," Sheridan said.

"We're playing well at the moment … you've just got to keep that standard up and we'll win more games than we lose."

Sheridan has taken 14 points from his first 11 games in charge at Newport, with Saturday's defeat their first in 10 in all competitions.

The Exiles are away at Barnet on Boxing Day before home games against Sheridan's former club Plymouth Argyle on 28 December and Hartlepool on 2 January.
