Eastleigh 1-1 Aldershot Town

Eastleigh slipped to fourth in the National League after being held to a 1-1 draw by Hampshire rivals Aldershot.

Josh Payne put the Spitfires ahead from the spot after a penalty was awarded when Omar Beckles brought down James Constable.

Aldershot levelled when Jack Midson brought down Charlie Walker, and Sam Hatton scored the resulting penalty.

Eastleigh are now five games unbeaten in the league, while the Shots sit 16th in the table.

Aldershot Town boss Barry Smith told BBC Surrey:

"Eastleigh is never an easy place to come and get points and I don't think there's a lot of teams that will come here and get anything, especially with the run they are on. The togetherness and the spirit the players showed rewarded the fans with a point.

"They saw a performance that shows they are fighting for everything. It was disappointing to concede the penalty so early but then again to come back from that was pleasing.

"I want to win every game and we've got forward-thinking players that in the 90 minutes will take those chances. You want a positive result and performance in any game and the boys showed what they can do against a team on a good run."
