Jack Munns' second-half strike helped National League leaders Cheltenham edge past 10-man Torquay at Whaddon Road.
The 22-year-old's cross-cum-shot from the left wing outfoxed goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe as the ball sailed into the net early in the second half.
Torquay were unlucky not to have taken the lead as Nathan Smith, Tyrone Marsh and Simon Heslop all went close.
But the Gulls ended the game with 10 men after midfielder Courtney Richards was sent off for two bookable offences.
Victory for the Robins meant they maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the table.
