Bristol Rovers Darrell Clarke warns against 'brainless' player sales

Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke says he will not sanction the sale of any of the club's players in January.

Rovers are seventh in League Two after a run of good results which includes wins in their last three games.

They have several players in fine form including striker Matty Taylor, who has 14 goals this season.

"Clubs may be looking at one or two of our players, but it would brainless to sell our players," Clarke told BBC Radio Bristol

Rovers are in their first season back in the Football League having won promotion last term.

However, Clarke says they have ambitions to improve their squad further and mount another promotion bid this season.

"Maybe we have grown pretty quick over a short space of time from where we were last season but we are delighted and we want more of that," he said.

"We'll be looking to improve the squad in January and we'll be making sure we don't get rid of any players.

"I'll be very angry if any player leaves, we want to add to the squad and give ourselves a push.

"I have not spent a lot since I've been at the club, the chairman has backed me and he will continue to back me. It's not about spending the most money it is about getting the right players in."
