Burton Albion are likely to trim their squad in the January transfer window, according to manager Nigel Clough.

Clough told BBC Radio Derby he is happy with the squad left by ex-boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but says some players may leave the League One leaders.

"It is not vital to go out and get new players in," said Clough. "We have a fit squad with 20 or 21 at the moment.

"It is probably a bit on the heavy side so there might be one or two going to make way for maybe somebody coming in."

Clough added: "If people have not been involved it is hard on them to play half a season and hardly get a kick so the first thing is a consideration of them to get them some football."
